A Spontaneous Adventure!
Have you ever made a last-minute travel plan that turned out to be way better than your well-planned trips? That’s exactly how I landed in Delhi. One random weekend, over a late-night coffee chat, my friends and I decided, “Let’s just go to Delhi.” No overthinking, no planning – just packed a bag and hopped on the next train. Little did I know this impulsive decision would turn into one of the most exciting and energetic getaways of my life.
Delhi – the capital of India – is one massive blend of ancient history, chaotic markets, posh cafes, political power, rich food, and youthful nightlife. The city is divided into multiple pockets – Old Delhi, which is rich with history and local vibes; Central Delhi, home to grand government buildings and monuments; South Delhi, known for luxury and chic cafes; and West/North Delhi, where the real buzz of the local crowd hits you.
In this blog, I’ll take you through the 5 best places to visit in Delhi, some amazing eateries and clubs I tried, and little personal tips to make your trip smooth and memorable.
1. Humayun’s Tomb – The Mughal Marvel
This was the first place I explored, and honestly, I was blown away. Humayun’s Tomb is like walking straight into a Mughal fairy tale. The symmetrical gardens, intricate architecture, and peaceful vibe make it a perfect escape from the city chaos.
Why you should visit it:
Less crowded than other monuments
Perfect for photography lovers
Ideal for history buffs and peace seekers
If you’re someone who enjoys calm mornings and a walk through history, then visit around 8 AM. And don’t forget to carry your camera – every corner here deserves a snapshot.
2. Chandni Chowk – The Food & Chaos Paradise

Now let me take you from serene to full-on madness. Chandni Chowk is not for the faint-hearted, but trust me, it’s an experience like no other. I had the best street food of my life here. From the iconic Paranthe Wali Gali to spicy chaat and jalebis dripping in syrup – every bite was unforgettable.
Must-Try Food Spots:
Natraj Dahi Bhalla – for melt-in-mouth dahi bhallas
Kuremal Mohan Lal Kulfi – for stuffed kulfis
Old Famous Jalebi Wala – those jalebis are the size of your palm!
Pro Tip:
Wear comfy shoes, be patient with the crowd, and keep cash handy. The energy, the colors, the sounds – it’s a live-action movie, and you’re the star.
3. India Gate & Kartavya Path – The Heart of Delhi
You just can’t visit Delhi and not take a stroll around India Gate. It’s open 24/7, free, and always buzzing with locals and tourists alike. I went here during the evening and the vibe was electric – kids playing, couples walking hand-in-hand, and food vendors lined up across the street.
What I loved the most:
The lit-up Kartavya Path post-sunset
Boating in the nearby canals
Street food (again!) especially chuski and corn on the cob
Bonus Tip:
Carry a mat, grab some snacks, and chill under the trees. It’s also super safe for solo travelers.
4. Hauz Khas Village – Art, Food & Vibes
This was my favorite part of Delhi. Hauz Khas Village is like the cool cousin of the city – full of charm, color, and a bit of drama. I spent an entire afternoon hopping between art galleries, quirky boutiques, and lakeside ruins. And by evening, it turns into one of Delhi’s hottest nightlife hubs.
Top Recommendations from My Trip:
Social HKV – best for work + drink + chill scenes
Raasta – amazing music and cocktails
Coast Café – lovely for a breezy brunch
Don’t Miss:
The Deer Park nearby – green, shady, and full of… well, deer. It’s a perfect spot to unwind after partying.
5. Akshardham Temple – A Spiritual Spe
Now for a different vibe altogether. Akshardham isn’t just a temple – it’s an experience. Massive, beautiful, and spiritually elevating, I spent hours here just walking around, admiring the carvings and soaking in the peace.
Things That Blew My Mind:
The musical fountain show (go in the evening)
The exhibitions that tell epic Indian stories
The temple’s architecture – absolutely jaw-dropping
Heads-Up:
Phones and cameras are not allowed inside. So go in with a clear mind and leave with a full heart.
Honorable Mentions – If You Have Extra Time
Lodhi Art District – for mural lovers
Dilli Haat – for handicrafts and regional food
Connaught Place – for shopping, cafes, and the city’s colonial charm
