Introduction: My Spontaneous Trip to Indore
Sometimes the best travel stories come from the most unplanned trips. Believe me, my trip to Indore wasn’t even on my list until a casual chat with friends turned into, “Let’s just go tomorrow!” That’s how I ended up exploring the heart of Madhya Pradesh.
Indore is a mix of everything—old-world charm, buzzing markets, majestic palaces, mouthwatering food, and nightlife that will surprise you. From the historic side of Rajwada to the vibrant nightlife in Vijay Nagar, every corner of this city has its own vibe. In this blog, I’ll take you through the best 5 places to visit in Indore along with some restaurants and clubs I’d personally recommend if you’re planning a trip here.
Rajwada Palace – Where History Lives

The first place I visited was Rajwada Palace, located right in the middle of the city. As soon as I entered, I could feel the Mughal, Maratha, and French architectural influences blending together. The palace stands tall with seven stories, and every wall seemed to tell its own story.
What I loved the most was the grand entrance with wooden doors that instantly took me back in time. If you’re someone who enjoys history or just loves admiring architecture, Rajwada is a must.
- Location: MG Road, Indore
 - Best time to visit: Late afternoon (so you can also explore the night market nearby)

And speaking of nearby, I’d totally recommend trying the chaat at Sarafa Bazaar which is walking distance from Rajwada.
Lal Bagh Palace – A Royal Escape

The next stop on my list was Lal Bagh Palace. Imagine walking through royal corridors, seeing chandeliers that make you look up in awe, and feeling like you’re in a scene straight out of a period drama. That’s Lal Bagh for you.
The palace once belonged to the Holkar dynasty, and trust me, it still reflects the royalty. I spent almost two hours roaming around and couldn’t stop admiring the European-inspired interiors.
- Location: Near the Khan River
 - Highlight: The grand ballroom and royal gardens

If you’re into photography, this place is your playground. Every corner here is Instagram-worthy without even trying.
Sarafa Bazaar – Midnight Food Paradise]

Now, let’s talk food! One thing you can’t miss in Indore is Sarafa Bazaar, especially at night. This place comes alive post 9 PM when the jewelry market transforms into a bustling street food heaven.
I had everything from Bhutte ka Kees to Jaleba (a giant jalebi) and even tried Garadu (spiced fried yam) which is a local specialty. The energy, the crowd, and the smell of food—it’s a whole new experience.
- Best dishes to try: Bhutte ka Kees, Garadu, Poha Jalebi, Jaleba
 - My tip: Go on an empty stomach because you’ll want to eat everything!

Patalpani Waterfall – Nature’s Chill Spot

After all that food, I needed a break from the hustle. That’s when I headed to Patalpani Waterfall, about 35 km away from Indore. The ride itself was refreshing, with greenery on both sides, and the sound of the waterfall as I approached gave me chills (the good kind!).
Standing there, looking at water cascading from a height of 300 feet, I felt like I was in nature’s amphitheater. If you love peace and scenic beauty, this place is a must-visit.
- Best time to visit: Monsoon or post-monsoon season
 - Pro tip: Avoid going too close to the falls as the water currents can be strong.

Ralamandal Wildlife Sanctuary – A Green Escape

My last pick is for nature and wildlife lovers. The Ralamandal Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the oldest sanctuaries in Madhya Pradesh. It’s not just about spotting animals but also about enjoying the lush greenery and trekking trails.
I went for a short trek and honestly, the view from the top was worth every drop of sweat. You can spot deer, rabbits, and if you’re lucky, even some exotic birds.
- Entry Fee: Very minimal, making it budget-friendly
 - Tip: Carry a water bottle and wear comfortable shoes

Where to Eat in Indore – My Recommendations

Now, let’s be honest, Indore isn’t just about places—it’s also about food. Apart from Sarafa, here are a few restaurants I personally recommend:
- O2 Café De La Ville (Vijay Nagar) – Perfect for coffee and chill vibes
 - Shreemaya Residency – Famous for its breakfast buffet
 - Mediterra at Sayaji Hotel – A rooftop dining experience you shouldn’t miss

Nightlife in Indore – Clubs I Loved
Yes, Indore does know how to party! If you’re looking for a fun night out, here are my picks:
- Trance the Pub – For a high-energy dance floor
 - 10 Downing Street – A classic with a great mix of food, music, and crowd
 - Kyro – Trendy, stylish, and perfect for weekends
